Got bored with your phone? If you are fashionable and anti-mainstream minded, here’s the list of the phone with the unique design and already available at the market that you can buy.
Meizu Pro 7 & Pro 7 Plus
image: beritateknologi.comMeizu isn’t a company that’s very well known in Western markets, but over the past couple of years, it has pushed beyond its Chinese market roots. Like most smartphone makers, Meizu is battling against a race towards uniformity. In other words: making a phone that’s different to other phones is tough these days, especially with consumers having a set idea about what a good smartphone should be. Inspired by the people behavior that flips their phone while meeting, but when you got a notification, you still wanna know without touch your phone. Meizu’s latest flagship, the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus, introduces a feature we’ve not seen in a smartphone before: a secondary Super Amoled colour touchscreen on the back. Meizu did an excellent job in designing a proper flagship, and the Fenetre display adds just enough in terms of both looks and functionality to help it stand out. The second screen is your notifications window, your selfie viewfinder, and your music player. Simple, yet useful and comfy. Good design, great performance, it’s a game changer. The Meizu Pro 7 Plus is very easy to like. No wonder the Meizu PRO 7 and 7 Plus has won the ‘Oscar in Design’ iF Design Award in Germany.
Kyocera Echo
image: mobot.netAnnounced in March 2011, Japanese company, Kyocera, introduces the first dual-screened Android Phone. Unusual and very unique design with some special features that single screened phone can’t do, they called “simultasking” capabilities. What is Simultasking? The Kyocera Echo has a one-of-kind design that offers two screens and the ability to use two applications at once. Call quality is acceptable and the smartphone is quick and responsive.
Yota Yotaphone Series
image: Selular.IDJust like the Kyocera Echo, Yotaphone Series also offered dual screen, with a different function and look. Yotaphone was inarguably one of the quirkiest smartphones released. This curious marriage of LCD and E Ink was certainly a manufacturing achievement. This Android handset got attention at first for the paper-like “e ink” display on its back, ideal for battery life and reading things under the sun.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play
image: Lelong.myAs the name “Play”, this phone is designed for gamers. Unlike today’s gaming phone (ROG, Razer, Xiaomi Black Shark), The Xperia Play is a smartphone with elements of a handheld game console produced by Sony Ericsson. They stitched thumbs to the robot: meaning a DualShock controller stitched to a 4” touchscreen in a side-slider form factor. A smartphone version of the PSP Go but with more processing power isn’t far off the truth either. Especially now that the PSP Go is officially discontinued.
LG G Flex
image: LGMaybe LG had been inspired by Wolverine when they created this “Self-healing” phone. With unique flexible curved screen and self-healing feature, LG G Flex wants to impress the users. There’s so much to cover on the tech and reasons behind the curved screen of the LG G Flex that it’s easy to forget about everything else. It’s far from the phone’s only notable design asset, though. The G Flex’s other big talking point is a self-healing back panel. Instead of a normal plastic top layer, there is a thin layer of resin covered by a protective film that can make scratches invisible – or at least less visible – after a short period. It is pretty effective at reducing the appearance of light scratches caused by coins and keys in your pocket. After a few minutes’ rests after being lightly abused with a few coins, there was no sign of any damage – despite the scratches being initially quite clear.
LG G5
image: 101prices.comIn early 2016, Google’s highly anticipated modular phone initiative, known as Project Ara, appeared to be leaving development limbo. The company said it was going to be consumer-ready by 2017 and people were excited. The phone was unique and had mix-and-match hardware components that snapped on to an endoskeleton frame like Lego. LG captured this and announced LG G5 in February 2016, which enabled users to remove the battery in an unorthodox way. The phone’s bottom bezel slid out, along with the battery, allowing other accessories like a camera grip and a digital-to-audio converter to attach to the phone. Though it was unique, the phone company didn’t continue with the design and released the more traditional G6 last year instead. Lenovo also announced their modular smartphone after, moto Z family.
Samsung Galaxy Beam
image: pricepony.com.phWith a seemingly endless stream of flagship phones hitting the market before the holiday season, it can be easy to forget some of the other devices that play a more niche audience. The Samsung Galaxy Beam definitely belongs in this category, as it includes a built-in Texas Instruments DLP pico projector. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the Galaxy Beam is the 15-lumen DLP nHD (640×360) pico projector built directly into the upper half of the device. But the rest, the Galaxy Beam is just a Galaxy S Advance that’s been redesigned to fit that projector.
HTC Evo 3D
image: dantri.com.vnIt was only a matter of time until 3D found its way onto phones. And with the arrival of the HTC Evo 3D, that time has come. Also followed by the LG Optimus 3D, both pack dual cameras and the lenticular displays required to record 3D and play it back without glasses so on the move 3D fun is a true option. Gracing the front of the HTC Evo 3D is a 4.3-inch qHD (540×960-pixel resolution) Super LCD. The screen is beautiful in itself, showing sharp text and images with bright colors, and it offers a smoother picture than the Evo’s WVGA touchscreen. However, there’s another level to the smartphone’s display. It features a parallax barrier that displays two different images on top of the screen, thus creating a 3D effect without the use of glasses. The 3D technology can be used to view 3D videos, photos, and games. To get you started, HTC preloads the device with a full-length copy of “The Green Hornet 3D” and a demo version of Spider-Man 3D, the game. You can also view 3D videos from YouTube, as well as shoot your own 3D clips and photos using the dual 5-megapixel cameras on the back of the phone.
Oppo Find X
image: TechenGuruLove or hate them, notches spread like an infection from one phone to another. Now there’s a cure – pop-up cameras. The Oppo Find X is the second phone in as many weeks to feature one and it’s even more elaborate than what we saw on the Vivo NEX S. It’s not just the front-facing camera that’s retractable. The rear-facing camera is also completely hidden when the handset is switched off or the camera application is closed. Oppo said it takes around half a second for the camera tray. For what Oppo wants the Find X to be, which is the most immersive smartphone on the market, the Full HD screen and its perfect.
Asus Padfone Series
image: Useoftechnology.comPhone plus tablet in one package, the Asus PadFone is a remarkable piece of work and its unique transformation will catch people’s attention. The Asus PadFone smartphones are designed to slot into a tablet dock and as such, the overall shape of the smartphone is dictated by the shape of the tablet dock. That being said, this phone goes for a very simple design with rounded corners and brushed metal sides that angle out to the rounded back. The back cover is black and matte and quite comfortable to grip but the black brushed metal sides are coloured black as well, giving a classy understated look. The 5-inch display is covered by anti-fingerprint Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and to top it off, Asus has made it shock resistant and water resistant to a certain degree. According to Asus, you can drop it confidently from knee level and it can also take a splash or two.
